Tracking dog service for wounded game recovery
TRACKING SERVICES AVAILIABLE DAY OR NIGHT, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK
Deer Tracking Service
Just because you can not track by site doesn’t necessarily mean the animal is not mortally wounded. For different reasons fatal wounds on deer can and do sometimes mostly bleed internally, leaving little or no blood to follow. A dog bred and trained to trail blood and/or scent can be very effective and in most cases be the difference between recovering and not recovering the animal you wounded.
365 days a year, CBO revolves around scent trailing wounded white-tail deer and/or numerous exotic species.
There are many factors that take part in recovering a wounded animal. The knowledge and experience the dog handler has around tracking is almost as crucial as that with the tracking dog itself. Tracking wounded game is clearly a team effort.
Effectiveness is only certain when both the dog and the handler are and for lack of better wording “The Real Deal”.
CBO has been tracking wounded deer since the late 80’s (right at 20 yrs) in Central and South Texas. Nothing is ever a guarantee though CBO and their scent trailing dogs represent your best chance at recovering your wounded game.
Time can often be on our side in regards to scent trailing wounded game. The Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound is widely known and has even been labeled “the cold nose specialist”. Meaning, Bavarians confidently and efficiently work out scent lines aged out at and over 48 hours. Obviously, predators would have adequate time to consume most if not all of the animal or the meat and hide might surely be spoiled. Though, at the very least you would still have a chance at taking home the animal’s skull with its horns/antlers.
With all this being said, CBO highly recommends the second you “think” you might have a difficult time recovering the wounded animal to contact us. For several reasons timely communication can add a key ingredient to elevating the chance of success.
If we can’t do it … we will get someone to you who can
Most (wounded game tracking) dog handlers have some sort of day job outside of tracking. And with that being said, most, if not all, have families and typical daily responsibilities that can and will prevent them from taking every wounded game call that comes their way.
Hunters can be challenged at times in just getting any dog handler to his or her search area. We commonly hear from random hunting groups on how difficult it is to have a reliable dog handler on call on any given day just during the fall months.
CBO knows most, if not all of the reputable dog handlers in Central Texas. Along with there geographical location and the knowledge of the areas they are willing to travel to for tracking.
Regardless of the time of day or day of the week, CBO can and will get a dog handler to you when you need one. Call “us” and we will facilitate everything.
Before and/or When the dog arrives
Beneficial to be able to communicate all of the following to the dog handler:
Cost of service
CBO tries to keep the tracking fee as affordable as possible, in hopes that everyone in need of help receives it. Time of day, schedule availability, and where we are physically located in relation to your search area at the time of the call will determine if the charge can be adjusted down or needs to be slightly higher. On average a very reasonable fee is requested.

As well, please feel free to add any additional as a tip if you so feel compelled to do so.
